Two Bits Of New Camera Kit - Nikon D5000
On a trip to the Welsh countryside at the weekend with my Nikon D5000, I tested out a couple of new bits of kit.
1 - Velbon tripod - every photography book gives the heavy sell for a decent tripod to get your photos looking ‘tack sharp’ and there is a reason for it. If you don’t own a tripod, get one now! I tested it out on a few waterfall shots below, opening the shutter to around 1-1.5 seconds and it worked fantastically.
2 - Circular polarising filter - this is a great bit of kit which reduces reflection from water or glass, and also to adjust colour saturation when shooting landscapes. Its best application when its 90 degrees to the light source , but I was shooting late morning so I probably didn’t maximise its effect.
